The High-pressure sodium ballast and lamp distance
2013-05-02 03:53:54

In actual use, because of many reasons often require high pressure sodium ballasts installed in a place far away from the light, in this regard, as long as the magnetic ballast wire cross-sectional area is large enough, the lead resistance accounting for ballast equivalent impedance 0.5 % or less, almost does not affect the normal operation of the lamp, the distance up to 50 meters. The electronic ballasts output are a high frequency, so the output lead of the high-frequency inductive, up to 5 meters when the distance between the lamp and ballast, due to the reason of the high-frequency impedance of the wire causes the lamp output power significantly decreased from about 3% to 8%, and the growth of the electronic ballast output conductor also make external interference (EMI) increased significantly and exceeded the standard limit. More importantly, for the steel rod of the street, if the electronic ballast is installed in the the lights steel rod within the base, and its output to the lamp wires between, as well as between the conductors and the grounding steel rod will produce significant capacitive leakage current, the capacitive leakage will not only generate foreign interference, but also increase the load on the electronic ballast may make electronic ballast shortened life expectancy.
